Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 1:00pm to 2:30pm
3200 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA 50312
This session was initiated by DMU alum and now faculty in the OMM department Hillary Haas, DO. After attending the “Provider Burnout and Professional Resiliency Conference” put on by Iowa Medical Society in February 2018 her first thought was “I wish I had learned this before I started residency.”
We are bringing this to the DO & DPM Class of 2019 prior to graduation.
Tammy Rogers from The Meyvn Group in collaboration with Dr. Haas have designed a 2-part session.
First part: defining burn out, no blame no shame, exploring stages of burn out, and understanding it's not a personal failure.
Second part: providing tools to help you remain whole during your training. Prevention, think of self-care as deliberate, systematic and consistent. This is more than mindfulness, you will create an individualized plan.
While residency is exciting, a great education and a time of huge growth, it can also quite challenging at times. We hope to prepare and support you with this session
