Experience the DMU campus and expand your medical knowledge – without taking the MCAT. Attend Mini Med School, a program that offers the public non-credit education on popular topics in health and medicine.

Feb. 4 Playing It Safe: Avoiding Home and Recreational Injuries Dr. Jodi Cahalan, Dean of the DMU College of Health Sciences

Feb. 11 Keeping Your Best Foot Forward: Common Foot and Ankle Sport Injuries Dr. Sean Grambart, Assistant Professor, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery; Physician, Foot and Ankle Clinic

Feb. 18 Ask a Question, Save a Life: Suicide Prevention Training (QPR) Dr. Ciara Lewis, Director, DMU Student Counseling Center. From 6-7pm prior to the event, registered therapy dogs will be in the SEC Atrium. 

Feb. 25 Sexually Transmitted Infections - What’s happening in Iowa? George Walton, STD Program Manager, Iowa Department of Public Health

Mar. 3 Vaccines and Your Immune System, Fighting Disease since 1796 Dr. Jonathan Crosbie, Assistant Professor, Family Medicine and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program

Talks are conducted by Des Moines University faculty and local experts in an accessible style appropriate for all audiences, aged middle school and up. Middle school students must be accompanied by a registered adult.
