EDUCATIONAL NEED
Osteoporosis presents an immense and rapidly expanding burden on the healthcare system in Iowa and worldwide. The number of fractures worldwide is expected to double between 2010 and 2040. In the United States, in the population over age 50, 50% of women and 25% of men will have one or more fractures in their lifetime. Despite affordable and widely available treatments being available, a healthcare gap exists.
