Alcohol-Related Disparities in Iowa: What We Know and What We Can Do
Tuesday, September 15, 2020 11am to 12:15pm
About this Event
This is the fifth event in a six-session virtual learning series. This session will discuss the disparities related to alcohol use in Iowa. The speaker will begin by differentiating disparities from other differences in health outcomes and will summarize national trends in drinking and substance use treatment utilization. He will then review the latest data from Iowa, focusing in particular on gender, race/ethnicity, sexual and gender minority populations, and rural differences in drinking and associated harms. As public health is an applied discipline, the speaker will devote time to considering the mechanisms responsible for the disparities and possible intervention approaches. Participants are encouraged to come with questions as this will be an interactive presentation. Please visit the event website for more information and to register for this free event.
