Despite being 19% of the population, Latinos only make up 6% of physicians. To address that Latino physician shortage crisis, the mission of National Latino Physician Day is to improve the quality of care for Latino patients by increasing the number of Latino physicians.

This year, DMU is partnering with Mercy One to celebrate and raise awareness of Latino physicians. This event will feature speakers Teresa Aoki, M.D.; Maria Guevara, M.D., FACP, FHM, and DMU medical student Isnavys Perez-Rodriguez, D.O.’27.
